After André Claveau won the Eurovision Song Contest 1958 in The Netherlands with the song called Dors Mon Amour , Eurovision Song Contest 1959 took place in Cannes, France . This was the first time France hosted the competition. Total of 11 countries participated. The winner of the competition was Teddy Scholten from The Netherlands with the song called Een Beetje. The song gained total of 21 points. This was the second Eurovision Song Contest victory to The Netherlands.
