Eurovision Song Contest Luxembourg 1984

After Corinne Hermès won the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 with Si la vie est cadeau, the 1984 contest was held in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg. It was the fourth time Luxembourg hosted the contest, after 1962, 1966 and 1973. The final was held on 5 May in the Théâtre Municipal, the host broadcaster was RTL and the presenter was Désirée Nosbusch, who was 19 years old and is still the youngest person to have hosted the contest. 19 countries took part. Ireland returned after a year away, while Greece and Israel did not enter.

Herreys from Sweden won with Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley and 145 points, 8 points ahead of Ireland’s Terminal 3 by Linda Martin. Spain’s Lady, Lady was third. It was the second victory for Sweden, ten years after ABBA’s “Waterloo” in 1974.
