Eurovision Song Contest Denmark 2014

After Emmelie de Forest won the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Sweden with Only Teardrops, the 2014 contest was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was the third time Denmark hosted the contest. 37 countries took part. The first semi-final was held on 6 May, the second on 8 May and the Grand Final on 10 May. Conchita Wurst from Austria won with Rise Like a Phoenix and 290 points. It was the second victory for Austria, 48 years after its first in 1966.

San Marino and Montenegro both qualified for the Grand Final for the first time.

Georgia’s jury votes in the Grand Final were declared invalid because all the jurors had ranked the entries in exactly the same order from 3 to 12 points, which the EBU considered statistically impossible. Georgia’s points in the Grand Final were therefore based on the televote alone.
